Norman Sanderson was born in Lumberton, NC on July 7, 1951. The son of a farmer, Norman and his six brothers and sisters worked on the family farm, which Norman did until 1971.
Norman graduated from West Columbus High School and attended North Carolina State University, focusing on Agricultural Education. Norman finished his degree with a BA in Christian Education from Logos University. He has 600+ hours of Law Enforcement training, 60 hours of Real Estate training, 250+ hours NC Division of Child Development training, and 48 hours in Nonprofit Management Training through Duke University.
Norman has lived in Pamlico County for 29 years and lived in Craven County for seven years. He has been a North Carolinian his entire life.
Norman has diverse work experience that will serve him well in making decisions in the NC House based on the will of his constituents. He has over 20 years experience as a small business owner, making the tough decisions necessary to keep a business solvent and operating. He and his wife Linda have owned and operated Kids Heaven School Age Care Center in Havelock, NC since 1997 through which they have cared for and mentored over 1,000 children. Norman also has experience in founding and being principal of Ambassadors for Christ Christian Academy in Havelock. Early in his career, Norman worked with the Pamlico County Sheriff's Department as a Sheriff's Deputy. He has also owned a real estate business.
Norman has a great desire to serve in his community. He is president of Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship America Crystal Coast Chapter, First Vice Chair representing Pamlico County of the Republican NC Third Congressional District, Secretary of the Craven County Republican Men's Club, Past Chairman of the Pamlico County Republican Party, active member of Pamlico County Committee of 100, active member of the Pamlico County Chamber of Commerce and Havelock Chamber of Commerce, and member of Oriental Rotary Club.
Norman and Linda have a son, a daughter and three grandsons that they love to spend time with. Of late, Norman spends the majority of his time running his business and campaigning. In the few moments he has to relax, Norman plays golf and likes to fish.
