His Priorities: Norman is a Christian, a Conservative and a Republican in that order. According to Norman, it is his faith in God that gives him the courage to attempt this campaign for public office. Norman seeks God's wisdom and guidance in his everyday life. The Bible says that the earth is the Lord's and all they that dwell therein. The belief that we must be good stewards of what God has given us makes Norman a Conservative. It is his pro-life, pro-marriage, pro-family beliefs that caused him to join the Republican Party.
His Experience: Norman has 20+ years experience as a small business owner and believes that government must be operated more like a business to make it efficient. Norman has made the tough decisions necessary to keep his business solvent and operating, even in a down economy. His experience in law enforcement gives him the insight into one of the basic responsibilities of government - citizen protection. Norman has experience in alternate education as the founding principal and teacher at a Christian academy in Havelock, NC that will be vital in improving our education system.
His Knowledge about the issues important to Eastern NC Citizens: Norman has lived in Pamlico and Craven Counties for more than 38 years. He and his wife Linda have raised their children here, worked in the job force, volunteered in their communities and understand firsthand what their neighbors need in providing for their families.
His Accountability: Norman believes that transparency is a core responsibility of government at all levels. Norman will not promise that which he cannot deliver. Norman will always be honest even if it’s not what you want to hear.
His Affordability: Norman will work diligently to lower taxes and cut unnecessary programs to ensure that government spending will be a good investment for all taxpayers. Norman will work to remove government intrusion from our lives where it is not wanted or needed.
His Promise to go beyond the Job Requirements: Norman will not ask anyone to do what he is not willing to do first. Norman has worked since he was 5 years old growing up on his family's farm as the oldest of 7 children. His father, Norman Sr., taught him that if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right, and that you finish what you start. At Norman's boyhood home, everyone had to carry their own weight, and there were no handouts.
His Desire to Serve: Eastern North Carolina has been good to Norman and offered him many positive opportunities. Norman wants the same opportunities to be available for his 3 grandsons. Norman believes that what we have is worth fighting for, and he is excited about working for our area. Norman believes we live in the greatest AREA in the world, in the greatest STATE in the greatest COUNTRY in the world.
